Streets of… 7 cities in 7 minutes was unveiled during the London Olympic Games

7 art works immersed the audience in a virtual reality of sounds, images, smells, and tastes from 7 different cities around the world: Naples (Italy), Shanghai (China), Mumbai (India), Tangier (Morocco), Lisbon (Portugal), Salvador de Bahia (Brazil) and London (UK). The ultimate aim was to develop a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures in the UK, to challenge cultural stereotypes and lower cultural barriers. This vision echoed the London 2012 Olympics’ themes and values.

As part of the Living Archaeology of the Place programme, the audience was encouraged to actively engage with and be part of the project between August and December 2012.
