Building on the success of the Streets of…7 cities in 7 minutes exhibition, ALDATERRA Projects was awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund – All Our Stories to begin the next stage of the Living Archaeology of the Place creative engagement programme, bringing Streets of… to schools in and around London. For this project the artist Alda Terracciano worked with 6 and 8 year old children from the Holy Trinity School in Brixton sharing her methodology of work, encouraging children to explore and engage with the cultural heritage of Brazilians living in Lambeth. These creative sessions culminated in the creation of the short documentary Streets of Brixton, filmed and produced by the children, showing their creative engagement with the streets as they saw and experienced them. Streets of Brixton was exhibited at the Brixton Library from 25th April to 16th May, alongside photographic and creative material produced during the project and other visuals gathered online as part of the ongoing public engagement programme. To see photographic material of the event click HERE
